Pretty Holiday Cottages In Lassay-les-Chateaux

Lassay-les-Châteaux, as the name implies, has a castle and two nearby castle ruins. Close to the cottage by one of the lakes, is the Château which refused entry to Victor Hugo because he was too "scruffy". It is open to the public and well worth a visit.

In the main street is the Bar Victor Hugo, where the writer was eventually forced to spend the night! There you will also find a couple of restaurants, boulangeries, banks and a mini supermarket. On the edge of town is a larger supermarket with an impressive selection of wines.

The surrounding countryside offers beautiful walks and     bike rides. An easy drive away is the medieval splendours of Fougeres and Domfront, and pretty hill top villages.
Day trips can be enjoyed to Mont St Michel and the Brittany coast, Rennes, Dinan, Rouen, the Loire valley, Bayeux, and the Normandy landing beaches. For the adventurous canoes can be hired in nearby Ambrieres and there are swimming pools in Lassay and Bagnoles. The cottage is under two hours drive from Caen, 70 miles to the North.
